Defeating Battle on the road 1-0 on a Drew Copeland goal last Monday, Kalyn Kemp’s Owensville Dutchgirl soccer team looked for another road win at St. James Thursday.

Taking a 1-0 lead just over three minutes into the match on a Landry Watson goal, OHS had all the offense they would need before going on to a 3-0 shut out of the host Lady Tigers in Four Rivers Conference (FRC) girls soccer action.

After a pair of road games last week, Owensville Dutchgirl soccer will host their second annual tournament throughout the remainder of the week.

Late last week, Belle’s Lady Tigers had to withdraw from the tournament due to injuries on an already thin roster.

With their varsity squad already in the tournament, Sullivan’s JV Lady Eagles will take Belle’s place in the tournament to keep it a six-team field.

Split into two pools of three teams, Pool ‘A’ will consist of Sullivan’s varsity squad, Wright City and St. James while Pool ‘B’ will include the host Dutchgirls, Fatima and Sullivan’s JV Lady Eagles.

Tournament action began last night (Tuesday) with St. James facing Sullivan’s varsity and Fatima playing Sullivan’s JV.

Taking today (Wednesday) off, the tournament will resume tomorrow (Thursday) with Sullivan’s varsity taking on Wright City at 4:30 p.m., and the Dutchgirls playing Sullivan’s JV Lady Eagles at 6:30 p.m.

Pool play will conclude on Friday beginning at 4:30 p.m., with Wright City taking on St. James followed by Owensville facing Fatima at 6:30 p.m.

If there is a tie after pool play, the following tie-breakers will be used:

• Head-to-head match up

• Goal differential (maximum of eight counted per game

• Total number of goals scored.

Saturday, May 1 action will kick off at 11 a.m., with the consolation championship game featuring the two third-place teams from each pool.

Games will continue at 1 p.m., with the third-place match pitting the two second-place teams from each pool against each other.

Capping the tournament at approximately 3 p.m., will be the championship match between the two first-place teams from each pool.

Admission charges throughout the tournament will be $3 for adults and $2 for students with children five and under along with senior citizens admitted free of charge.

Throughout the week, games may begin earlier than scheduled if the previous game before theirs ends early.

Following the tournament, Owensville will return to regular-season action on Tuesday, May 4 when St. Clair’s Lady Bulldogs pay a visit to Dutchmen Field for a Four Rivers Conference (FRC) girl soccer match up beginning at 4 p.m.

The start time was moved up to avoid a scheduling conflict with a co-curricular activity at St. Clair.
