Looking for their first goal and victory three games into the young season, Jordan Palmer’s Owensville Dutchgirl soccer team hit the road Monday night into Osage County to take on Fatima’s Lady Comets at the Westphalia Knights of Columbus Soccer Complex.

Nursing a 4-3 halftime lead, Owensville allowed a Fatima goal tying the match at 4-4 with 12:38 left in regulation.

A Destinee Busenhart goal on a penalty kick with 9:01 left and another insurance goal from Katelyn Landolt two minutes later helped the Dutchgirls hold off the host Lady Comets 6-4.

Helping end the over 240-minute scoring drought in the first half were Anna Finley and Busenhart each with a pair of goals in Westphalia.

Replacing an injured Alexis Altemeyer in goal, sophomore Luci Angell collected her first varsity win.

Facing Belle’s Lady Tigers in a Highway 28 showdown at home last night (Tuesday), Palmer’s Dutchgirls will return to action tomorrow (Thursday) against another Highway 28 opponent in Dixon’s Lady Bulldogs beginning at 5 p.m.
