Help the seniors score a win on senior night.

That was the goal Monday night for the underclassmen on Kalyn Kemp’s Owensville Dutchgirl soccer roster.

Facing St. James’ Lady Tigers for the second time this season, the orange and black looked to pick up another victory over their Four Rivers Conference (FRC) foes adding to a 5-0 win during the Owensville Girls Soccer Tournament nearly two weeks ago.

Finding the back of the net twice in each half, Owensville gave goalkeeper McKenna Edwards more than enough offensive support helping her secure a 4-0 shutout Monday night.

Just beyond the midway point of the first half, Owensville broke the scoreless tie when Audrey Quilacio scored her first goal of the game at the 15:19 mark of the half giving the orange and black a 1-0 lead.

Nearing the end of the opening half, one of Owensville’s eight seniors decided to put her name on the score sheet.

Senior Kylie Kitchen doubled the Dutchgirl lead to 2-0 with 1:35 for the half.

Entering halftime with a 2-0 lead, Owensville added to their lead with a pair of goals at the midway point of the second half.

Lily Reed became the third Dutchgirl to score a goal Monday night finding the back of the net with 18:27 remaining bumping the Owensville lead to 3-0.

Nearly two minutes later, Quilacio netted her second goal of the game at the 16:28 mark of the second half giving the orange and black their final margin of victory.

“I can’t thank our seniors enough for all of the hard work and dedication that they have put in over the last four years,” Kemp said.

Closing out their regular season last night (Tuesday) at Dutchmen Field against Laquey’s Lady Hornets, the Dutchgirls will shift their focus to a rematch with Sullivan’s Lady Eagles opening play in the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 2, District 4 Girls Soccer Tournament at Westminster Christian Academy in St. Louis.

Seeded sixth ahead of Blair Oaks (7) and St. James (8), the Dutchgirls will hope the third time is the charm against Sullivan in the last of four first-round matches at 4 p.m., Saturday afternoon.
