Rained out last Monday at home against Capital City, Hannah (Wehar) Koppelmann’s Owensville Dutchgirl softball team ventured Thursday into Osage County looking to even their record at 3-3 on the young season.

Facing Linn’s Lady Wildcats, OHS put up four runs in the first inning and two more in the second giving Addison Wright all the offense she would need in Owensville’s 8-5 victory.

Opening the game on offense, the Dutchgirls took full advantage.

Emma Daniels, Halie Boyer and Anna Finley all singled and scored helping OHS to a quick 3-0. Wright also doubled and scored helping her cause.

A Paige Loyd walk and Gabby Bunners single helped Owensville bat around in the top of the first inning.

Seeing Linn answer with three runs in the bottom of the first inning on four hits, the Dutchgirls looked to get those runs back in the top of the second inning.

Adding to her first-inning single, Daniels walked and scored on a Boyer RBI double bumping Owensville’s lead back to 5-3.

Again looking to help her own cause, Wright delivered an RBI single scoring Boyer giving OHS a 6-3 lead over Linn moving to the bottom of the second inning.

Working around a walk and an error, Wright limited the damage to one run for Linn and a 6-4 lead through two innings.

After a scoreless third inning, Linn pushed another run across in the bottom of the fourth inning trimming the Dutchgirl lead to 6-5.

With one out in the top of the fifth inning, Finley was hit by a pitch before Wright reached base for the fourth time in the game on a single.

Paige Bossaller came through with a two-RBI double scoring Finley and Wright bumping the Dutchgirl lead back up to 8-5.

Allowing just one hit and one walk the rest of the game, Wright guided the Dutchgirls to their third victory of the season.

Following senior night softball last night (Tuesday) against Union at home, Wehar’s Dutchgirl will hit the road tomorrow (Thursday) to Sullivan facing the Lady Eagles in what will be their senior night.

On Saturday, Owensville will hit the road to face a pair of new opponents to their schedule.

Playing at Vienna City Park, Koppelmann's Dutchgirls will face Tuscumbia's Lady Lions at noon followed by a showdown with the host Eagles at 2 p.m., to cap off a Saturday of softball in Maries County.
