Dropping a 15-14 slugfest last Monday at Cuba, Hannah Koppelmann’s Owensville Dutchgirl softball team took another road trip the next night to Mokane facing South Callaway’s Lady Bulldogs.

Trailing 11-9 entering a do-or-die top of the seventh inning, OHS plated four runs before holding South Callaway in the bottom half of the inning for a 13-11 come-from-behind victory.

A two-out rally was needed to start the scoring for Owensville in the top of the first inning.

Anna Finley singled and scored on an Addison Wright RBI triple breaking the scoreless tie.

Two pitches later, Paige Bossaller traded placed with Wright on a RBI triple doubling Owensville’s lead to 2-0.

Emma Daniels ended the scoring with a RBI single driving in Bossaller for a 3-0 lead before South Callaway’s first turn at bat.

Two hits off of Dutchgirl starter Gabby Bunners led to a Lady Bulldog run and a 3-1 Dutchgirl lead after one inning.

In the top of the second inning, another two-out rally led to more Owensville runs.

Kaitlin Nelson started it with a two-out walk followed by a Leah Reed single to left field.

Finley added to her first-inning single with a two-RBI double bumping the Dutchgirl lead to 5-1.

Wright then walked before Bossaller delivered a two-RBI double pushing Owensville’s lead to 7-1 moving to the bottom of the second inning.

South Callaway plated two runs on two hits and three walks in the bottom of the second inning cutting Owensville’s lead to 7-3.

Unable to score in the top of the third inning, Owensville saw South Callaway take their first lead of the game.

Four hits, two walks and a hit batter led to five Lady Bulldog runs leaving the Dutchgirls trailing 8-7 after three innings.

For the third time in the game, a two-out rally led to a scoring chance.

Wright walked with two outs before a Bossaller RBI double tied the game at 8-8 halfway through the game.

Bossaller finished with a team-high four RBIs.

A scoreless bottom of the fourth from South Callaway kept the game tied at 8-8.

Unable to break the tie in the top of the fifth inning, Owensville saw South Callaway score three times in the bottom half of the fifth leaving themselves trailing 11-8.

Another walk led to another Dutchgirl run in the top of the sixth.

Finley walked before a Wright RBI single cut South Callaway’s lead to 11-9.

Following a scoreless bottom of the sixth inning, Owensville needed at least two runs in the top of the seventh to extend the game.

They got more than that.

Walks from Katelyn Landolt, Bunners and Alyssa Belloir loaded the bases for Nelson.

Delivering a two-RBI double, Nelson tied the game at 11-11 forcing South Callaway to bat in the bottom of the seventh.

Back-to-back RBIs from Reed and Finley gave the Dutchgirls a 13-11 lead now three outs from a W.

Pitching an unblemished bottom of the seventh inning, Bunners helped her Dutchgirls to a 13-11 come-from-behind victory on the road over South Callaway.

Going 2-3 at the Rolla Tournament over the weekend, Owensville will start the MSHSAA Class 3, District 3 Tournament tomorrow (Thursday) facing the winner of Salem and St. James at 6 p.m. at Sullivan High School.
