Reaping the benefits of a turf field.
That is what Kalyn Kemp’s Owensville Dutchgirl soccer team was doing Friday night when their scheduled game against Crocker’s Lady Lions was moved to Dutchmen Field.
Carrying a 2-0 lead into halftime, OHS strung together three goals in a six-minute span during the middle of the second half of their 5-0 shutout victory over the visiting Lady Lions from Crocker.
Still scoreless midway through the first half, Owensville finally broke the 0-0 tie on a goal from Kylie Kitchen giving them a slim 1-0 lead.
With time winding down in the opening half, Dutchgirl junior Landry Watson put one into the back of the net doubling the OHS lead to 2-0 at the 1:20 mark of the half.
Starting the second half with a 2-0 lead, Owensville once again had to wait until the middle of half to add to their lead.
Getting an open line to the goal, Watson landed her second of the game with 21:22 remaining for a 3-0 lead.
Just over five minutes later, Watson added yet another hat trick to an overcrowded hat rack with her third goal of the match at the 16:05 mark of the second half for a 4-0 lead.
Scoring the game’s first goal in the first half, Kitchen capped the scoring for Owensville with her second goal at the 15:25 mark giving OHS their final margin of victory.
