Wrapping up their regular season over the weekend at the Marshfield Duals Wrestling Tournament, Rod Barndollar’s Owensville Dutchmen wrestlers can now turn their focus to this weekend’s Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 2, District 2 Wrestling Tournament at Mexico High School.

Competing in five duals down in southwest Missouri, the Dutchmen got to see some familiar and not-so-familiar opponents.

In their lone dual win of the tournament against Hollister, Owensville won four of five contested matches in addition to winning by forfeit in four weight classes.

Boston Belk (152), Alan Kopp (160), Michael Martin (106) and Aries Nicholas (113) all won their matches by fall while Gabe Soest dropped a 17-6 major decision in his match at 138 pounds.

Winning their matches by forfeit against Hollister were Tighe Bombach (132), Zach Adams (170), Dakota Martin (195) and Michael Stockton (220).

Another dual saw the Dutchmen get a preview of the host school for their upcoming district tournament in Mexico’s Bulldogs.

Dakota Martin and Stockton both earned wins by forfeit while Soest won a 9-2 decision during Owensville’s 53-15 dual loss.

A district opponent in years past, Dexter’s Bearcats remain in District 1 hosted this year by St. Clair.

During their dual at Marshfield, Dexter defeated Owensville by a team score of 65-18.

Michael Martin and Bombach earned wins by forfeit while Michael Stockton pinned Dexter’s Caleb Coons in :12.

Taking on the host Blue Jays in Marshfield, a Michael Martin win by forfeit dashed the host school’s bid for a shutout against Owensville, 75-6.

Facing another unfamiliar opponent at Marshfield, Barndollar’s Dutchmen also went head-to-head with Camdenton’s Lakers.

A Stockton win by fall in :47 over Camdenton’s Devin Lyons accounted for Owensville’s lone points in a 72-6 team loss to the Lakers.

Four days earlier, Owensville competed in a quad meet at Fatima High School against the host Comets, Moberly’s Spartans and Southern Boone’s Eagles.

In two of those duals, OHS got a look at district competition against Southern Boone and Moberly.

Dropping a close 36-30 dual to the Eagles, Owensville got victories by forfeit from Kopp, Dakota Martin and Stockton.

Pinning their way to victory for the Dutchmen against the Eagles were Belk and Adams.

Against the Spartans, a Soest win by forfeit and Dakota Martin winning a 3-0 decision over Beau Garrett accounted for OHS’ team scoring in a 56-9 dual loss.

Lastly in a dual against the host Comets, it was a showdown of Warden Publishing Co., coverage schools.

Adams and Cody Linders both earned wins by forfeit at 170 and 182 pounds respectively.

Kopp pinned Leo Neuner in :25 at 160 pounds while Dakota Martin scored a win by fall over Jason Woodruff in 1:57.

Stockton scored Owensville’s final victory by fall in 3:17 over Caleb Reinkemeyer.

Comet wrestlers winning by fall included Lucas Laux over Bombach, Eli Froning over Soest and Blake Wiles over Belk.

Alex Even, Zakery Tune, Luke Schroeder and Jason Strope all wrestled unopposed for Fatima.
