Finishing up the Linn Baseball Tournament Saturday morning in Osage County, Steven Kemp’s Owensville Dutchmen took on the host Wildcats in the consolation championship game looking to snap a 12-game losing streak.

Leading 5-2 entering the bottom of the second inning, the orange and black were in line to halt the skid.

Linn scored 13 unanswered runs over the next five innings with Owensville not having enough offensive answers before falling 17-11.

Landon Ely led the game off with a walk before Jaden Gerlemann posted a single to put two runners on base.

Austin Long then reached on an error allowing both Ely and Gerlemann to score giving the Dutchmen an early 2-0 lead.

Will Lauth and Chase Weirich each walked later in the inning only to be left stranded.

Linn tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the first on two walks, an error, a dropped third strike and a hit batter.

To go along with a Chris Allen single in  top of the second inning, Owensville turned three walks into three runs and a 5-2 lead.

Zaiden Gates and Ely drew consecutive walks before Long walked to load the bases.

Allen drove in Gates and Ely before Long scored on an error.

Two hits, three walks and three errors led to six runs for Linn in the bottom of the second leaving the Dutchmen facing an 8-5 deficit.

Held scoreless in the third and fourth innings, Owensville got some of those runs back on three errors, two hits and a walk.

Long reached on a pair of errors before later scoring on a sacrifice bunt.

Allen walked and scored on a Weirich RBI single helping the Dutchmen cut their deficit to 11-8.

Plating four runs on five hits and a walk in the bottom of the fifth inning, Owensville now found themselves trailing the Wildcats 15-8 after five innings.

Leading off the top of the sixth inning, Ely singled before scoring on a pair of errors which allowed Gerlemann to reach base.

Allen then delivered a RBI sacrifice fly allowing Gerlemann to score and trim OHS’ deficit to 15-10 entering the bottom of the sixth inning.

Scoring two runs on a walk and a double, Linn now led the Dutchmen 17-10 entering a do or die top of the seventh inning.

Wyatt Kramme started the frame with a one-out triple before scoring on an error to make it 17-11 in favor of Linn.

Ely reached base for the fourth time in the game on a triple before Gerlemann reached in his third plate appearance after being hit by a pitch.

A fly out ended the game with Owensville coming up a few runs short in a contest that featured 18 runs scored, 18 hits and 13 errors.

Weirich took the loss pitching three innings allowing nine runs (one earned) on three hits and seven walks while striking out four batters.

Ely scored three runs to go along with two hits and two walks.

Wyatt Kramme also had two hits and a run scored.

Allen drove in a team-high three runs on one hit and a walk.

Last Monday hosting St. James, Owensville nearly rallied from a 7-0 third-inning deficit before their seventh-inning rally fell a one short dropping an 8-7 heart breaker to the Tigers.

Gerlemann and Wyatt Kramme each had three hits to lead the Dutchmen with Kramme also scoring and driving in two runs.

Weirich also had three hits, a walk, a run scored and a RBI for the orange and black.

Owensville’s junior varsity Dutchmen also dropped a 15-2 decision to St. James with Gates (2) and Matt Eckelkamp accounting for OHS’ three hits.
