That was the mentality Friday for Steven Kemp’s Owensville Dutchmen baseball team on the road Friday night along Highway 100 against New Haven’s Shamrocks.

Dutchmen nine sweep New Haven

Just win baby.

That was the mentality Friday for Steven Kemp’s Owensville Dutchmen baseball team on the road Friday night along Highway 100 against New Haven’s Shamrocks.

Leading 7-3 after five innings, OHS blew the varsity game open with a 10-run top of the sixth inning before going on to defeat the Shamrocks 17-3 snapping a 15-game losing streak improving their record to 2-16 on the season.

Laine Baumbach scored a team-high three runs while Austin Long drove in a team-high four runs on one hit with two runs scored.

Logan Bailey, Logan Kleekamp and Wyatt Kramme each drew a team-high two walks.

Owen Binkhoelter, Elias Medlock and JJ Brown each also scored two runs against New Haven.

In the following junior varsity game, Owensville broke open a 3-1 game in the top of the third inning with a five-run frame highlighted by an Ashden Murphy three-run home run.

OHS went on to defeat the JV Shamrocks 8-2 for their second win of the season.

Recording base hits for the JV Dutchmen along with Murphy were Maddox Parker, Henry Loeb, Coleton Connor and Dalton Nochta.

Adam Wilson, Andrew Brown, Alex Trotter, Zach Barch and Binkhoelter each drew walks for Owensville against the JV Shamrocks.

Last Thursday at Sullivan, the varsity Dutchmen fell 5-3 to the Eagles while the JV Dutchmen saw an early 1-0 lead turn into a 6-1 loss.

Jaden Gerlemann scored two of OHS’ three varsity runs while Bailey scored the lone JV run.
