Any other school year, senior night would take place towards the end of their respective seasons.
However, in the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, Owensville High School athletic department officials decided to move up senior nights for softball, volleyball, football, band and cross country to next week in order to get them in while their respective seasons are still able to be played.
Senior night madness will begin next Tuesday after the Labor Day holiday with Owensville Dutchgirl softball hosting Union’s Lady Wildcats at 4:30 p.m., at OHS Field.
Senior softball players that will be recognized between the varsity and junior varsity games include Kaitlyn Nelson, Alyssa Belloir, Katelyn Landolt, Paige Bossaller and Gabby Bunners.
Jamie Ridenhour’s Dutchgirl volleyball team will also recognize their senior athletes when they take on Belle’s Lady Tigers with action beginning at 5 p.m., inside the OHS main gym.
Dutchgirl volleyball seniors being honored between the junior varsity and varsity matches include seniors Emily McKinney, Haley Coello, Cadi Ruth, Grace McFalls and Taylor McClure.
Later that week on Friday, Sept. 11, senior members of the Dutchmen football team, OHS Band, OHS Cross Country teams and the OHS football cheerleading squad will be recognized before Cuba and Owensville battle on the gridiron.
Nathan Cabot’s football team will recognize seniors TJ Whelan, TC Fisher, Bryor Bogle, Garret West, Luc Guerrero, Zach Adams, Weston Davison, Owen Holtzer, Brayden Edwards and Dakota Martin.
Cross Country seniors running for head coach Matt Candrl being recognized include Cameron O’Neal, Kate Angell, Isabelle Bruckerhoff, Katie Candrl, Mekayla Gibson, Libby Korman, Jodi Lock and Juliana Watkins.
Senior members of Jordan Palmer’s OHS band being recognized will include Gage Barnett, Avery Kelley, Connor Lang, Haley Russell, Sydney Silvers, Elijah Waters and Lydia Weaver.
Seniors on Raquel Bunton’s football cheerleading squad include Christina Becker and Alisen Chapman.
