Edith Louise Jost, 82, of Owensville, MO., departed this life on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Victorian Gardens in Eureka, MO while surrounded by family.
She was born September 17, 1938, to Alvin and Alice (Branson) Hoss in Owensville.
She was united in marriage to Stanley Jost on September 17, 1955 at Leduc Methodist Church in Bland. The couple resided on their farm for sixty-six years.
Edith’s career reflects her value upon hard work. She worked as a switchboard operator, dealership clerk and newspaper proofreader before embarking a career in real estate. All while keeping her partnership in Jost Fertilizer and Farms. Edith also volunteered time towards civic and charitable causes that she saw merit in. She was one call away when somebody needed a hand.
Edith enjoyed crocheting, gardening, camping and spending time with family, especially her great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Alice Hoss; a daughter, Cindy Lynne Jost; and a brother, Donald Hoss.
Her survivors include her husband, Stanley Jost of the home; daughter, Sharon Hays and husband Rick of Beaufort; her son, Rob Jost of Cuba; a brother, Bill Hoss and wife Opal of O’Fallon, MO; a sister, Ramona Slovensky and husband Charles of Dacula, GA; two grandchildren, Brian Froelker of Kimberling City, MO and Jennifer Crosby and husband Brad of Owensville; and two great-grandchildren, Garrett and Tucker Crosby.
A funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home Chapel in Owensville with Rev. Van Lahmeyer and Rev. Greg Weeks officiating. Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Memorials may be given to The Russell House in Rolla or The Leduc Methodist Church Cemetery in Bland.
