I still feel cheated

Posted

To the Editor:

As a woman I am thrilled to see a new pinacle of achievement for members of my sex with the election of Kamala Harris.

I guess it is sour grapes but I still feel cheated. The feeling goes back to the 70’s when my white female cousin, upon finishing pre-med with honors, was denied entrance into medical school. My cousin was told that for a woman to be admitted she would need to fill two minority slots. Because of her race my cousin only filled one.

V.P.-elect Harris ticked three minority boxes and I fear without a triple minority background her excellent qualifications would never have taken her where she is today.

Someday, I pray, credentials will be all that is considered in an election or for that matter for any position.
