PACIFIC — Start a new winning streak and stay in the Four River Conference (FRC) title hunt.

Those were two things on the radar of Ryan Flanagan’s Owensville Dutchgirl basketball team entering their Thursday night FRC road basketball game against Pacific’s Lady Indians.

Leading 21-11 at halftime, the orange and black ramped up their defensive intensity shutting out Pacific 21-0 in the third quarter before going on to a 46-15 victory.

Along with keeping their record unblemished in FRC play, Emma Daniels made it six Dutchgirl basketball players to reach 1,000 points for their careers.

Held to four points in the first half, Daniels hit a basket at the 2:36 mark of the third quarter putting her over 1,000 points her career joining the likes of former Dutchgirl basketball players Teresa (Holzschuh) Schulte, Kati (Davis) Wiser, Hailey Diestelkamp, Breanna Diestelkamp and Anna Finley.

“It has been a blessing seeing all of Emma’s hard work pay off with her reaching this scoring milestone,” Flanagan said. “She has earned everything she has gotten and I look forward to seeing her accomplish more on the basketball court.”

Tied at 4-4 early in the first quarter, an Audrey Quilacio basket at the 5:05 mark of the period sparked a 7-0 run that was ended by a pair of Emma Daniels free throws helping Owensville to an 11-4 lead after eight minutes of basketball from eastern Franklin County.

Pacific trimmed OHS’ lead to three at 11-8 before the Dutchgirls went on a 10-0 run at the 6:33 mark of the second quarter started by a Camryn Caldwell 3-pointer.

Ali Daniels capped the run with five consecutive points pushing the orange and black lead into double digits at 21-8 with 2:13 until halftime.

Going into the break with a 21-11 lead, Owensville came out in the second half lighting up the court on both offense and defense to the tune of a 21-0 shutout of Pacific.

Surpassing 1,000 points for her Dutchgirl basketball career, Emma Daniels scored 11 of her game-high 15 points in the second half.

In addition to her scoring, Daniels nearly finished with a triple double adding seven rebounds and six steals.

Caldwell also finished in double figures with 10 points.

Ali Daniels added nine points, three blocked shots, two rebounds and two steals for the Dutchgirls against Pacific.

Ella Gehlert nearly finished with a double double against Pacific ending up with eight points, eight rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots.

Cameron Nowack came off the bench to pull down six rebounds while Audrey Quilacio added four points, five rebounds and five steals and a blocked shot.

Last Wednesday night, Emma Daniels led the Dutchgirls in a losing cause with 16 points during their 60-49 home loss to Blair Oaks.

In a 57-44 road win at New Haven last Monday, Ali Daniels led three Dutchgirls in double figures dropping a game-high 23 points on the Lady Shamrocks.
