Demolition of the 1954 Owensville Bowl restaurant and bowling alley Bernadine Ahring and her late husband, Bill, operated together from 1984 to 1996 — and she until 2004 — had begun Thursday morning. Ahring had stopped by to document the moment in pictures. “There’s a lot of memories in there,” Ahring said, her eyes watering a bit. Ahring recalled Paul and Alvina Haake who built the original bowling alley. Herb Toben and Fred Denton owned the lanes before the Ahrings did. The Steimel family operated the lanes and restaurant until 2010 when they built Thunder Alley. Ahring’s son, Billy, had been working with city officials to expidite the removal of the building when he died earlier this year.
