Evelyn Smith, 98, Washington, formerly of Owensville, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at New Haven Care Center in New Haven
She was born Nov. 24, 1923, to Arthur and Mary L. (Shockley) Lohmeyer in St. Louis.
She was united in marriage to Melvin L. Smith, Dec. 30, 1945, in Owensville.
Evelyn was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Owensville, where she was very active and taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed shopping, canning when she was able, traveling and collecting angels.
She was preceded in death by parents Arthur and Mary; husband Melvin; daughter Cheryll Smith in infancy; and brothers Reginald and Arthur Lohmeyer Jr.
She is survived by children Lois Foster and husband Jimmy of Troy and Bryan Smith and wife Shirlee of Washington; grandchildren Andrea Kluesner of St. Charles, David Smith of Washington and Diana Stone and husband Jerry of Villa Ridge; and 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, June 6, at Zion Lutheran Church, Owensville, with Rev. David Roth officiating. Burial was in Owensville City Cemetery.
