Swiss Evangelical and Reform Church members hosted a food distribution Saturday with members of the Hermann Ministerial Alliance in a program made possible by the United State Department of Agriculture. “The Farmers to Families” distribution included 13,000 pounds of mixed vegetables and fruits delivered by Ole Tyme Produce of St. Charles, Mo. Bryan Crowton of Ole Tyme Produce said the surplus produce is part of an effort by packagers like his employer to distribute food not being delivered to restaurants due to the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns and reductions in ordering. Deliveries are down a third, he said, of normal orders. The distribution will be held again starting at 9 a.m. Saturdays, Sept. 12 and 19, according to Swiss E&R Pastor Leon Pannkuk. No registration or income declarations are required.
