Filing deadline looms on Dec. 28

Filing for April 2022 Municipal Election candidates closes at the end of business hours next Tuesday (Dec. 28) for respective city and county government offices.

As of Tuesday afternoon, there was one contested race for the Ward 1 seat on Owensville’s Board of Aldermen. Joshua Rogers filed Dec. 15 as a candidate to challenge incumbent Cathy Lahmeyer for the two-year term.

Mayor John Kamler and Ward 2’s Denise Bohl both previously signed up to seek another two-year term of their respective positions.

Owensville City Hall will be closed Friday, Dec. 24, and Monday, Dec. 27, for the staff’s Christmas break. Filing ends at 5 p.m. Dec. 28 for city candidates. 

Gasconade County R-2 School District’s two Board of Education directors whose terms are up in April  have both signed up to seek another three-year term. Those include Joyces Lowes and Russ Farrell. 

Filing closes at 5 p.m. Dec. 28 but the R-2 Administrative Building is open for limited hours before then.

The office will be open today (Wednesday) only from 8 a.m. to  1 p.m. and then be closed Thursday, Friday, and Monday, Dec. 27.

Filing will be accepted on Tuesday, Dec. 28, only from 3 to 5 p.m. when the sign-up period closes.

Gasconade County Clerk Lesa Lietzow’s staff reports two candidate have filed for the Gasconade Manor Nursing Home District’s Board of Trustees —one candidate from each of the following districts is up for election.

Filing to date for the nursing district board are Roger Jett (district No. 2) and Elizabeth (Betty) Estes (district No. 1).

Leona Kurrelmeyer, subdistrict No. 4, and Kelly Cornwell, subdistrict No. 1, have both filed for re-election to their Board of Directors seats for the Owensville Area Ambulance District.

For the E-911 Board of Directors, Betty Estes has filed as an at-large candidate. Joyce Baxter has filed as a candidate for the Southern District seat. A candidate is still needed for a director’s seat in the Northern District.

The Gasconade County Health Department’s Board of Trustees has an opening remaining yet for a candidate for an un-expired term which will be for two years.

The county’s Special Road District No. 4 has an opening for a commissioner candidate.
