Gasconade County R-2 Board of Education incumbent Molly Steinbeck was the first to declare her intentions to run for re-election Tuesday morning at 9:50 a.m. after the April 2021 election filing opened.
Steinbeck was the only candidate to file on Dec. 15. She is still finishing her first three-year board term.
Director Debbie Landolt’s seat is also up for election for a three-year term. Landolt has served on the board for three-year terms in 2008, 2011, 2015, and 2018
Filing closes for winter break at 1 p.m. on Dec. 22 and reopens at 8 a.m. on Jan. 4 through 5 p.m. on Jan. 19, according to state regulations.
For more information, contact the Administration Building at 437-2177.
The city of Bland also opened filing on Tuesday morning for two two-year terms and one one-year term for alderman at-large seats.
The two-year seats are currently held by Diana Mayfield, who was elected to the position, and Ned Steiner, who was appointed in November to replace Alderman Sherry Spradling.
The one-year term is currently held by Mark Ferran, who was appointed in October. No one declared for the seats by the end of business on Tuesday.

Incumbent files in Owensville Ward 1
Kevin McFadden, the incumbent Ward 1 Owensville alderman, filed to seek another two-year term. McFadden completed paperwork to seek election for his second term by around 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to city staff.
He was previously an appointed aldermen to compete an unexpired term.
An apparent opening for a Ward 2 alderman remains after the first day of filing. Rob Borgmann, the board’s president, has said he will not seek another term when his current stint ends in April 2021 — a point Mayor John Kamler noted at the board’s Dec. 7 meeting.
“Alderman Borgmann is signaling this is it and I can’t talk him into it,” said Kamler, who added, “Rob has done a great job for years.”
Borgmann then quickly made a motion to introduce the ordinance calling for the election registration period to begin Dec. 15. It, too, ends Jan. 19, at 5 p.m. Registrations will be accepted at Owensville City Hall except on holidays when the offices are closed.
