A fire initially reported at 7:29 p.m. Monday at 208 North Second in Owensville was extinguished quickly by Owensville firemen. The long vacant “Boettcher” house now owned by John Paul Quick was boarded up, according to a fireman on the scene. The building was destroyed in an apparent rekindle reported at 1:38 a.m. Tuesday. It was still smoldering yesterday afternoon. The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office and Owensville Fire Department are investigating the incident to determine a cause, according to City Marshal Robert Rickerd. No recent vandalism incident have been reported there, he said.
