Five people in Franklin County succumbed to COVID-19 in the past week. Deaths were reported of an 81-year-old man from Beaufort and one age 80 from Sullivan. Three women, a 75-year-old from Washington, an 84-year-old from Sullivan, and a 96-year-old from Pacific also died. According to reports from the Franklin County Health Department, that brings the death toll to 36. Numbers from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services show the county death total at 40, so more deaths will probably be announced in the next day or so.
There were five new positive cases reported in the Gerald area which now has six active cases. These include two females ages 28 and 29 and four males ages 26, 66, 70, and 83.
At least 18 people remain hospitalized, down from 23 earlier in the week.
There 26 positive cases in long term care facilities seven days ago. That number has skyrocketed to 47.
While the Franklin County Health Department used to provide daily updates on their Facebook page, that practice was apparently discontinued Sept. 27. They do continue to provide daily updates via email.
According to their statistics, there were 265 new positive cases reported in the last seven days. This brings the total of positive cases in Franklin County to 2,436.
