Playing in an always competitive Four Rivers Conference (FRC), Jamie Ridenhour’s Owensville Dutchgirl volleyball team fared well for themselves during recent voting for the All-FRC volleyball teams.
Finishing third in the varsity standings behind St. Clair and Hermann, OHS had three players selected to their respective All-FRC volleyball teams.
Earning All-FRC First Team recognition were seniors Emily McKinney and Haley Coello.
Both seniors killed the volleyball on a consistent basis during their senior seasons.
McKinney led the team with 205 kills while Coello was close behind with 187 kills.
Flipping the script, Coello led the team in total blocks with 85 followed by McKinney with 65.
Defending Owensville’s side of the court, Mckinney also led the team with 492 digs.
Also earning All-FRC Honorable Mention status was junior Kyla Hendrix.
Passing volleyballs to her teammates left and right throughout the season, the Dutchgirl junior dished out a team-high 389 assists.
Kyla was also selected to the Class 3, District 3 All-District Second Team along with senior teammate Grace McFalls.
McFalls made her mark in the serving department leading the Dutchgirls with a team-high 30 aces edging out McKinney with 29.
Joining McKinney and Coello on the All-District First Team was fellow Dutchgirl senior Cadi Ruth.
Serving as the team’s libero, one could find Ruth hunting down seemingly every loose ball.
Finishing her senior season with 490 digs, she was edged out by McKinney (492) for the team lead.
“I could not be any more proud of how our girls played throughout the season,” Ridenhour said. “Our seniors were very instrumental in the success that we enjoyed this fall. I look for our underclassmen to keep this going to next year.”
