Falling to St. Clair and Hickman (Columbia) in back-to-back road games last week, Ryan Flanagan’s Dutchgirls looked to right the ship Monday night opening the Hermann Girls Basketball Tournament as the third seed against the sixth-seeded Chamois Lady Pirates. Anna Finley and Katelyn Landolt (above, from left) double team Chamois’ Makenna Wuelling (10) during Owensville’s 73-37 victory. A complete recap from tournament action in Hermann will be in next week’s Republican. Opening Four Rivers Conference (FRC) play last Monday night in St. Clair, Owensville led 41-40 after three quarters before falling 63-58 to the host Lady Bulldogs. Breanna Diestelkamp led OHS with 23 points followed in double figures by Liana Miller with 15 points. Last Wednesday night, the Dutchgirls took a road trip north to Columbia facing Hickman’s Lady Kewpies. OHS also fell 56-46 in that road contest.
