FRC baseball up for grabs

In spite of Owensville Dutchmen baseball’s 4-3 loss to Pacific Thursday night, Tyler Ahring’s Orange and Black diamond squad are still right in the thick of the Four Rivers Conference (FRC) baseball title hunt.

Going into play that night, Owensville and St. Clair were both undefeated in conference play at 2-0 and 3-0 respectively.

After OHS suffered their first FRC loss at the hands of the Indians, St. Clair’s Bulldogs dropped a 3-2 nail biter in nine innings at Hermann to the host Bearcats.

This left four teams with only one loss in conference.

As of press time, there are now three teams with one loss in FRC action including Owensville, Union and St. Clair.

Pacific also has an outside shot at a share of the FRC title with a 4-2 record.

With their 5-2 victory at Sullivan Monday night, Ahring’s Dutchmen control their own destiny towards their first FRC title since 2001.

OHS (3-1) has conference games remaining tomorrow (Thursday) at Union, Friday at New Haven and Monday, May 3 hosting St. Clair in a rescheduled game from April 8 at OHS Field. If they win those three games, they will win the title outright.

Union (5-1) has only one FRC contest remaining scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday) at home against Owensville weather and field conditions permitting.

St. Clair (4-1) is scheduled to host New Haven tomorrow (Thursday) and travel to Owensville on Monday, May 3 to finish out the FRC portion of their schedule.
