Players, coaches and fans involved in Four Rivers Conference (FRC) basketball have an opportunity coming up to share memories from their FRC basketball experiences.

On Saturday, Nov. 30 at the White Mule Winery starting at 1 p.m., a gathering is planned for anyone who would like to celebrate old teammates, old rivalries, championship seasons, an average team or anything in between.

Finger foods are planning on being ordered with beverages up to attendees to purchase at the White Mule.

One likely topic of conversation among those in attendance will be former New Haven High School head boys basketball coach, head baseball coach and athletic director Ray Steinhoff.

Inducted eight years ago into the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) Hall of Fame, Steinhoff will be enshrined into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at the Oasis Hotel and Convention Center in Springfield.

“I know Ray (Steinhoff) pretty well,” Bloemke said. “He is a great guy and very worthy of his Missouri Sports Hall of Fame induction.”

Organizers are hoping to get attendees from each FRC school which includes, Sullivan, St. Clair, Union, New Haven, Pacific, St. James, Hermann and Owensville.

Those at Washington that were involved in basketball during their time in the FRC are also welcome to attend the gathering.

There are a number of possibilities for Dutchmen basketball topics at this event.

Most memorable of which is the 1974 Dutchmen basketball team that went on to win the state championship under head coach Jerry Buescher who went on to win over 800 games.

Those interested in more information about this upcoming event can contact Tom Bloemke (573) 690-8411, Bob Havin (636) 744-2129, Rich Brune (573) 694-1268 or Billy Weiland (573) 205-8802.
