FRC Volleyball gets it done

Last week, Jamie Ridenhour’s Owensville Dutchgirl volleyball team was not the only Four Rivers Conference (FRC) squad to win a district championship.

Hermann’s Lady Bearcats and New Haven’s Lady Shamrocks also brought home district championship hardware from Blair Oaks and Otterville respectively.

Sectional Saturday saw mixed results from the trio of FRC volleyball teams.

Hosting their sectional, Owensville could not overcome a slow start before falling in their sectional match to Dexter’s Lady Bearcats in three sets 25-10, 25-22 and 25-15.

For Hermann and New Haven, they had to travel significant distances for their sectional and quarterfinal matches.

Trekking north to Kirksville, Hermann swept Winfield and John Burroughs to punch their ticket to the MSHSAA Class 3 Volleyball Final Four later this week in Cape Girardeau.

As it turns out, Hermann will not be the only FRC volleyball team in Cape Girardeau.

New Haven also advanced to the Class 1 Final Four with wins over Rich Hill and Greenfield.
