Gary Rehmert

Gary Dean Rehmert, 79, Belle, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. 

He was born July 25, 1939, to Arthur E. and June L. (Shelton) Rehmert, in Sullivan

He was united in marriage to Sandra Rector, July 25, 1975, at the Methodist church in Belle. 

Gary was a lifelong area resident and a 1957 graduate of Owensville High School. He was employed at Chrysler in Fenton where he was known as “Smiley.” He retired in 1991 after 28 years. Gary liked to keep busy, so after retirement, he did many odd jobs including working concrete and helping out others who needed it. 

He enjoyed hunting deer, turkey and Morel mushrooms. He liked watching sports on TV, especially stock car racing. Gary was a St. Louis Cardinal fan and coached little league in Owensville, Belle and Gerald. He worked in the yard and had a garden every year. 

Gary liked older country music and played guitar and would often play for his family as well as going on four wheeler rides with them. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by parents, Arthur and June; and sister, Sharon Buschmeyer.

He is survived by wife, Sandra, of the home; children, Cynthia Chamblin of Florida, Dawn Houser and husband Mark of Sullivan, Todd Rehmert and wife Alicia of Owensville, Brian Rehmert of Gerald and Loren Rehmert and wife Sara of Bland; grandchildren, Rane, Reese, Thad, Aubrey, Cameron and Brittney Rehmert, Fallon Page and Casey and Tyler Chamblin; great-grandchildren, Landon Page and Collin Chamblin; siblings, Carrol Heidbrier, Lois Green, Glenda Vincent, Janita Boettcher, Cheryl Thomas and Nancy Jarett; and many extended family members and friends. 

A celebration of life will be held Friday, Feb. 22, at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle with visitation from 5-7 p.m. Memorial services will follow with Pastor Doug Williams officiating. Memorial contributions suggested to the family.
