Gasconade County 2020 tax statements being mailed Nov. 10

Posted

Tax statements go into the mail Nov. 10 for 2020 Gasconade County real estate and personal property assessments.

The 2020 current tax charge will generate approximately $15,151,604, according to Gasconade County Collector Shawn Schlottach. Her report notes real estate and personal property tax assessments will produce $13,202,837. Rail road and utility taxes will bring in $1,915,246. Business licenses, private rail car tax and drainage levee districts makes up the remaining charge.

The tax charge will be shared among 40 separate political taxing entities with certified property tax levies. Delinquency notices, not included in the above totals, will also be mailed.

Taxpayers in the following districts will see a rate increase per $100 assessed valuation from last year including Maries R-2 School District (.0615), R-1Osage (.2193), and R-2Osage (.0689).

City of Owensville residents will see an increase of .0705 cents per $100 assessed.

The Gerald Area Ambulance District’s tax rate will decrease .0744.

Also having decreased taxes are the cities of Gasconade (.1213), and Bland $1.0936.

The county collects ad valorem personal property and real estate taxes for all six cities within Gasconade County which have a certified tax rate. City taxes for Hermann, Owensville, Bland, Rosebud, Gasconade and Morrison will be included on the county tax statements.

Payment of taxes can be remitted by  mail, in-person, drop box (located at top of the ramp outside the courthouse), by phone at 1-800-652-0405 or on-line by visiting the county’s secure web site 24/7 at www.gasconadecountycollector.com. A convenience fee of 2.4 percent of the total transaction will be added or a $3.95 flat fee for Visa Debit when paying by credit card. There is a minimum fee of $1.50.

This fee is not retained by the collector or the county. Paid receipt(s) are mailed from the collector’s office within one business day.

The web site also contains other helpful county tax information, Schlottach noted.

Eligible taxpayer’s can file for tax credits under the “Missouri Property Tax Credit Program” by contacting the Missouri Department of Revenue 573-751-3505 or email propertytaxcredit@dor.mo.gov or visit the county’s web site for a printable form to file.

To avoid late fees all taxes are due by Dec. 31. If paying by mail, the “post mark” determines current status. If one owns property, personal or real estate, and does not receive a tax bill by Nov. 20 you are asked to contact the County Collector’s Office at 573-486-2711. Tax statements are mailed as a convenience to the taxpayer, according to Schlottach. Failure to receive a tax statement does not relieve the taxpayer of his/her obligation to pay taxes when due, she noted.

Personal Property Assessment forms for 2021 will be mailed out the first week of January and must be returned to the Assessor’s Office by March 1, 2021, to avoid a late assessment penalty.

Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30p.m. except when county offices are closed on holidays.
