New this year is a Quick Paint Event which will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at White Mule Winery. Local amateur artists are encouraged to participate in this event which includes a $200 prize for the best painting and $50 for honorable mention. Registration is $10. Plein Air is a French expression meaning “in the open air” and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist’s subject in full view. Plein air artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, color, and movement into their works.
