JEFFERSON CITY — At its regular monthly meeting held Feb. 6, Missouri’s Highways and Transportation Commission approved a contract to replace two bridges in Gasconade and Osage counties.
Don Schnieders Excavating was awarded a contract to replace both the Route A bridge over Third Creek, south of Mount Sterling, and the Route D bridge over Mistaken Creek, west of Cooper Hill. The contractor submitted the lowest bid of $1,634,467.
The bridges are both 65 years old and included in Governor Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state, according to MoDOT.
When work begins each bridge will be closed for up to three months, though not at the same time. A start date for work on each bridge has not yet been established. MoDOT will alert the public with updates through signs, news releases and social media.
