GCR2 announces quarantine of staff member, student

Posted

For the third time in four days since Gasconade County R-2 Schools opened, district officials have sent out a text message informing parents and guardians of a quarantine request by a county health department.

Superintendent Dr. Chuck Garner’s message to parents was released around 2 p.m. today (Thursday) informing R-2 families a high school student and staff member have been asked to quarantine.

Neither had shown any symptoms of COVID-19 but “due to exposure outside the school environment they have been asked to quarantine,” Garner wrote.

Those in the school, including staff, who may have had direct contact with either the staff member or student have been contacted by either school officials or representatives of a county health department. The letter did not specify which county health agency had made the request.

A similar situation was reported on Monday. An Owensville Elementary School staff member was asked to follow quarantine protocol due to an exposure outside of the school setting.

On Wednesday, Aug. 26, two students at the Owensville Middle School campus were asked to quarantine.
