Ninety Gasconade County R-2 School District staff members on March 19 received the first of two vaccines designed to protect against COVID-19 infections during a clinic provided by Medley Pharmacy.
The district reported on March 11 that they surveyed staff members to see if they would be interested in receiving the vaccine if the school hosted a clinic. About 105 out of the 285 district employees responded positively. The Friday clinic held at the middle school lasted from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
“The set up was very smooth,” said Superintendent Dr. Chuck Garner. “All participants were pleased with the process. We were able to accommodate everyone who came in that day.”
The clinic took place in the gym at Owensville Middle School. The follow-up COVID-19 vaccine shot is scheduled April 16 around that same time. “We will start around 2 p.m. and go until everyone gets their second round,” Garner said.
