Gender transformation: What I know, what I don’t know

Posted

I know that except in extremely rare circumstances, there are only two sexes, male and female. Yet today, two percent of American high school students identify as transgender. Most of these are teenage girls.

The term “transgender” was almost unheard of as little as 10 years ago. According to the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders, the condition underlying it, 10 years ago, afflicted roughly 1 in 10,000 people — .01 percent of the population, and most of those were boys.

Author Abigail Shrier says, “Before 2012, there was no scientific or medical literature discussing adolescent girls who wanted to transition to the opposite sex.”

Why the sudden change? Research points to social media as the culprit. The current generation of teenagers — especially girls — are experiencing record levels of anxiety, depression, and instances of self-harm.

Influencers on YouTube, Reddit, Tumblr, TikTok, and Instagram tell them that when you feel uncomfortable in your body — a normal part of puberty — gender transition is the solution.

During the current legislative session, the Missouri House and Senate have been debating the transgender issue. In the news, it is constantly phrased as “banning gender-affirming health care.” I do not consider breast removal for a healthy young girl or chemical castration for a young boy as health care. It’s mutilation.

Kaylee McGhee White of Independent Women’s Forum, in a PragerU video gives this example: “In no other part of the medical world is it considered acceptable or even legal to damage the body of a healthy person irreversibly.

If a mentally ill man who identifies as an amputee asks a doctor to amputate his perfectly functioning arm to match his identity, every self-respecting surgeon will send him away.

If a young girl suffering from anorexia walks into a hospital and asks for liposuction, no one in their right mind would grant her request.”

I know what the left calls “gender-affirming health” care is irreversible and that thousands now regret the damage caused to their bodies and are starting to detransition.

A post from a detransitioned male on Reddit.com sums it up perfectly, “A child cannot make an informed decision on hormone treatment. A child cannot make an informed decision on surgery. A child cannot make an informed decision on altering their gender medically.”

Apparently Joe Biden thinks he knows better. In March 2022, the Biden administration released documents that encourage gender reassignment surgery and hormone treatments for MINORS. This includes “’Top’ surgery — to create male-typical chest shape or enhance breasts;” and “’Bottom’ surgery — surgery on genitals or reproductive organs, facial feminization or other procedures.”

I don’t’ know why an 11-year-old should be allowed to undergo chemical castration, sterilization and surgical mutilation to change their sexual appearance when they are not old enough to vote, drive, consume alcohol, smoke cigarettes or marijuana, vape, or get a tattoo or body piercing.

I don’t know why there is no fuss over a Transgender man — a woman who believes they are a man — trying to prove themselves competing against biological males in swimming, track, or other sports. Why are there no stories of a Transgender man undressing in a male locker room or using a boy’s bathroom?

I know I would never want a biological male using the same locker room or bathroom as my daughter or granddaughter.

I know that I support laws that ban gender transformation for minors.

I know the definition of a woman.

Here’s an example of how far the Progressive Left is going to blur the distinctions between men and women. Last month a leading defender of women’s rights, Riley Gaines, asked Dr. Gabby Yearwood, a senior lecturer in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Pittsburgh, “If you were to dig up two humans one hundred years from now, both man and woman, could you tell the difference, strictly off of bones?”

Yearwood replied, “No!” to laughter from the college students in the room.

I am not an anthropologist, but I know that is wrong. There are differences in adult male and female pelvises, hips and skulls.

The Independent Women’s Forum tweeted about the event, “This is how far removed the Left is from reality that they must deny basic scientific facts.”
