The Gerald-Rosebud Fire Department responded with equipment and personnel to assist neighboring Beaufort-Leslie Fire Department Sunday with a fire south of Leslie (above) on State Route CC. The shed was fully involved in fire when personnel arrived and was a total loss, but the nearby house was saved. In the past week, the GRFD has responded to two second alarm fires, one first alarm fire, one vehicle fire, two vehicle accidents - one with entrapment. Once the firemen return to the station, the call isn’t over. They need to clean the trucks, tools and hoses. The the air tanks need to be refilled and fresh hose put on the trucks so they will be ready for the next call. During this busy week, the department was still able to send members to a class sponsored by the Vienna Fire Protection District on forcible entry techniques.
