Geraldine “Jeri” Teal, 80, of Eldon, passed away Friday, May 8, 2020, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia.

She was born Sept. 28, 1939, to Everett Leo and Martha Mae (Jolly) Dane, in Hannibal.

She was united in marriage to Edward Dee Teal, Feb. 13, 1960, at Aurora Springs Baptist Church, Eldon. He preceded her in death May 30, 2019.

Geraldine graduated from Eldon R-I. She was very active in church and served along her husband, Edward, as he pastored for nearly 40 years in several Southern Baptist churches in Phelps, Miller, Osage and Gasconade Counties including Sandy Hook, Blue Springs, North Shore, St. Elizabeth, Liberty, Solid Rock and Pilot Knob. She loved teaching children’s ministry in her churches and devoted her life to her faith and family. Geraldine was a faithful member of Aurora Springs Baptist Church. Geraldine was a wonderful cook with a talent for sewing and crafts and enjoyed gardening and tending to her house plants.

She is survived by four children, Debora “Deb” Kessler and Mark of Ulman, Joan Mitchell and Gary of Camdenton, Pamela “Pam” Burris and Tim of Eldon and John Teal and Darice of Owensville; one sister, Nancy Parkhurst of Eldon; three brothers, David Dane and Joy of Eldon, Don Dane and Debbie of Greenwood, and Louis Dane and Kay of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to her parents and loving husband, Edward, she was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Derrick Burris and Amanda Stokes and one sister, Edith Dane Gill.

A private graveside service will be held at Dooley Cemetery in Eldon.

Due to the current pandemic a public celebration of life to honor Geraldine will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Aurora Springs Baptist Church.
