Geraldine Rae (Combs) Valley, 83, Belle, passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug. 18, 1936, in Chicago, a daughter to the late Arthur George and Gertrude Mae (Jarvis) Combs.
She was united in marriage to Lawrence Valley Sr., April 17, 1954, at the Christian Church in Gerald. To this union, 10 children were born. Lawrence preceded her in death Jan. 4, 1984.
Geraldine was a lifelong area resident and worked for a brief time at Wilson’s Restaurant in Rosebud. She was a homemaker for most of her life which was a job she loved.
Geraldine had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around. She enjoyed shopping at Walmart, reading, sewing, playing card games and playing bingo either at home or at places in the area. Geraldine liked to watch Murder She Wrote, The Animal Planet, and the Game Show Channel. Above all, she loved the time spent with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Lawrence, Geraldine was preceded in death by son, Francis Valley; grandchildren, Charles Valley II, Richard Valley, Larry Valley, Steven Valley and Megan Valley; great-great-grandchildren, Manda Valley, Fayth Valley and Nevaeh Lestarge; and eight brother and sisters.
She is survived by children, James Valley of Bland, Charles Valley and wife Monica of Belle, Lawrence Valley Jr. and wife Julie of Bland, Ron Valley and wife April of Owensville, Robert Valley and wife Glenda of Belle, Mary Valley-Wann of Owensville, John Valley of Belle, Irene Valley and boyfriend Jeremy Koons of Belle and Harold Valley of Rosebud; 32 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren as well as many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held (today) Wednesday, Jan. 15, 9 a.m. at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle, with funeral services following at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Liberty Cemetery.
