Grant Freeman Redecker, 90, of Belle, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 12, 1928, to Walter and Verneta Mae (How) Redecker in St. Louis.

He was united in marriage May 5, 1956, to Irene E.A. Doerr at New Hope Methodist Church in Arnold.

Grant attended Zion and Horine Schools and he worked with his father on their dairy farm. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War (1953-1955). Upon returning from his military service he and Irene purchased their own farm.

He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. He was thankful to the almighty God for his long life and his marriage of 62 years to a wonderful lady. Being a Christian he read his King James Bible and followed its teachings. His favorite verse was John 3:16.

He was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Verneta Redecker; brothers, Daniel and Willard Redecker; and sister, Carrie Michaelis.

He is survived by wife Irene Redecker of the home and they were blessed with four children who survive, Irene V. Schirmer and husband Jim of Hermann, Carl G. Redecker and wife Nina of Gerald, William T. Redecker and wife Sharon of Union, and Caroline Ann Keeney and husband Gary of Belle; sister-in-law, Wilma Redecker of Desloge; brother-in-law, Fred Michaelis of Festus; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Chapel in Owensville. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Chaplain Lisa Dutch officiating. Burial will be at Rosebud Methodist Cemetery at Rosebud with full military honors.
