Monday, the Franklin County Health Department confirmed the second COVID-19 death, an 87-year-old Catawissa man, in the last seven days. Last Wednesday, they confirmed the death of a 79-year-old man from St. Clair. On Tuesday, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) showed two more deaths which should reported by the county Wednesday. That will bring the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 32.

STLtoday.com reports that Mercy Hospital Washington transferred two COVID-19 cases to Mercy South last Thursday “because of lack of intensive care unit capacity.” The report noted that the local hospital is seeing “a higher number of virus patients than ever.”

The county reports 11 patients currently hospitalized from Franklin County. 14 patients are being cared for in long-term care facilities.
