Stan Voss has confirmed to The Republican that he has plans to open a grocery store in Gerald next spring.
Voss cautions that the property transfer has not closed yet, but he does not foresee any glitches in the deal.
Voss owns Stan Voss Construction Inc. and says once the deal has closed he will focus his attention on renovating the building. Then he will equip and stock the new store.
“I’m excited to open a business in the Gerald community,” he said.
One of his biggest concerns was recruiting reliable help and establishing a loyal customer base. After visiting other Gerald businesses, Voss says those fears have been alleviated. He hopes to provide good, well-paying jobs to a core group of six to eight employees.
Voss grew up in the grocery business as one of seven children of the Voss family who owns Voss Tomboy in Beaufort. When his brother Lynn, who managed the Beaufort store, was killed Stan found himself getting more involved in that business.
“Opening a store in Gerald seems like a natural fit,” he explained.
In these uncertain times, Voss is aware he may fun into delays, but he is committed to opening a quality grocery Gerald as soon as he can get all the pieces in place.
That will be a good day for the Gerald community.
