HADH doctor gives urgent mass vaccine update

Posted

This is an urgent public message from Dr. Michael Rothermich Hermann District Hospital:

"Over 1850 people have filled out our contact information form. We continue to have some people fill this out multiple times and ask that you not resubmit your information unless you have different contact information or realize you miscategorized your eligibility.

So far, we have scheduled 928 people for vaccination this weekend. As of 3 p.m. today (Friday), over 450 people have identified themselves as eligible for vaccine phases 1A-1B Tier 2 but we have been unable to make contact with or have yet to call them.

Will will continue to call people into this evening and likely tomorrow to complete our schedule for Sunday. However as we only have 242 open appointments left at this time it is clear at this point that not everyone who is eligible and who left us contact information will be able to be vaccinated this weekend.

As stated previously we have already ordered additional vaccine and plan to hold additional vaccination clinics as the vaccine becomes available to us. We also encourage individuals to try to sign up through one of the other regional vaccinators such as the Gasconade County Health Department.

We will not be vaccinating people without an appointment so please do not come to the event unless you have been called and been given an appointment date and time.

If someone has to cancel their appointment at the last minute or no shows we will keep those doses of vaccine refrigerated and will administer that vaccine to someone else early next week. We also plan to continue to post updates frequently.

A special thanks to Ellen Schaumberg director of Outpatient Clinics who has been using the skills she honed as an event coordinator to help us put this together and Denise Kennedy Miranda Hartman Beth Epple Samantha Schaumberg Annetta Duggan Kayla Spreckelmeyer Jenifer Frink Shannon Berkemeyer Corby FaerberKelsey Gerlemann Jessie Heying and Eleaseh Korman who have had to work much harder and for most of them extra long days calling people to verify eligibility pre-register them and give instructions. While we hope things go off without a hitch we also appreciate everyone’s understanding if we run into any challenges over the next two days.
