Harvey Oscar Lalk, 94, Hermann, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022 at Gasconade Manor Nursing Home, Owensville.

Harvey was born Dec. 18, 1927, the son of the late Oscar B. and Esther A. (Vehlewald) Lalk in Morrison.

He was the husband of Elaine A. (Tietjens) Lalk. They were united in marriage Nov. 9. 1984, in Hermann.

Harvey proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, where he was stationed on a ship in Guam. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he went back and finished high school. After graduating high school he attended Jefferson City Junior College. After college he went to work in Washington D.C. in civil service for 15 years with the Army and 17 years with the Navy, where he retired after 32 years. During these years he served as a fingerprint expert, administrative officer, program analyst, and finished his career as a budget analyst for the Navy. His final project was budgeting for armament for Aegis Ships. During his 32 years in civil service he received three Outstanding Performance Awards.

Harvey was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann and the Hermann Lions Club.

He is preceded in death by parents Oscar and Esther; and brothers Darwin and Charles Lalk.

Harvey is survived by wife Elaine Lalk of Hermann; daughters Christine Foote and husband Brad of Washoe Valley, Nev., and Patricia Thompson and husband Steve of Owensville; grandchildren Heather Schlottach and husband Martin, Kelly Wright and husband Dan, Kurtis Lansford and wife Stacey, Sean Dunn and Montana and Ravyn Routsis; great-grandchildren Blake and Brett Scheel, Lillian Sample, Pierce and Drake Schlottach, Karson and Karlee Wright, and Kaden, Rylie and Logan Lansford; and two nephews. 

Memorial services will be private. 

Memorials suggested to St. Paul U.C.C. or Historic Hermann.
