Nicholas Edward Hazel of Owensville posted a $20,000 cash bond last Wednesday after being arrested and jailed at the Osage County Jail on the class C felony charge of first degree sexual abuse.
According to the probable cause statement filed by the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office, Hazel’s stepdaughter stated she woke up Sept. 21 to being sexually assaulted by Hazel and upon confronting Hazel, he threatened to turn off the phones belonging to the reporting party and her mother.
Osage County Jail Administrator Lt. James Powell told The Republican on Tuesday that Hazel posted bond. However, a representative with the Gasconade County Court advised records have not yet been updated, as the necessary bond paperwork has not been received. Hazel was scheduled to appear before Judge Ada Brehe-Krueger at 9 a.m. today (Wednesday) for a bond reduction hearing.
