A Rosebud man seriously injured Thursday morning in a U.S. 50 crash which claimed the life of another Rosebud man remains hospitalized.

Dale D. Kurrelmeyer, 59, Rosebud, was in “satisfactory condition” Tuesday afternoon, according to a Mercy Hospital St. Louis spokeswoman. Kurrelmeyer was flown there by ARCH helicopter ambulance following the crash on U.S. 50 near Roethemeyer Road which was reported at 6:35 a.m. June 4.

He had undergone surgeries over the weekend and Monday to repair a broken foot and damaged ribs, according to a co-worker of his wife, Lynn, deputy Gasconade County clerk.

She has been unable to visit him due to restrictions on hospital entry policies due to the coronavirus threat.

Pronounced dead at the scene was 29-year-old Danton C. Clark, a former U.S. Army dog handler and veteran of the War on Terror in Afghanistan.

Clark was driving a 2016 Jeep Compass west on U.S. 50 254 feet before Roethemeyer Road when he crossed over the centerline and struck Kurrelmeyer’s eastbound 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck head on. The Missouri State Highway Patrol report by Sgt. Kent Kreftmeyer noted Kurrelmeyer was wearing a seat belt but Clark was not. Clark was pronounced dead at 7:02 a.m. by Gary Wilson, a paramedic with the Gerald Area Ambulance District.

His body was taken to Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville where a funeral service was being held this morning (Wednesday). Burial is in the Champion City Church Cemetery in Franklin County with full military honors. He was a 2010 Owensville High School graduate.

Clark’s death was the fifth fatality in a motor vehicle crash in Troop F in June and the 25th since the start of the year.

The incident was investigated by the MSHP Major Crash Investigation Unit’s Sgt. J.A. Mulkey  and Sgt. J.D. Cox with assistance from Troopers Bruce Baker, Tye DeCramer, and Z.T. Micks from Troop C.
