Henry Gregory Chrun, 97, Owensville, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020, at Hermann Area District Hospital, Hermann.
He was born Jan. 26, 1923, to the late Gregory and Sophie Chrun, at St. Louis.
He was united in marriage to Sophie (Hauschild) Chrun, Dec. 31, 1947, at St. Louis. She preceded him in death, Aug. 28, 1984.
Henry proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He worked as an assembly line worker for Crown Cork & Seal for 30 years.
Henry had a passion for flying planes and owned a small plane at one time in his life. Something about Henry his family will always remember is when anyone would ask him how he was doing his response was always “fine and dandy, sweet as candy”.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Ted and Ed Chrun; and half-sister, Lillian Schmitt.
He is survived by son, Kenneth Chrun, of Mobile, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial will be Monday, June 1, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis. Memorial contributions suggested to Franklin County Humane Society.
