Herbert “Herbie” J. Ivy, 67, Linn, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023, at his residence in Linn.

He was born Feb. 13, 1956, to the late Arthur Daniel Ivy and Ophilia Irene (Rawlings) Byerley in St. Louis.

He was employed at Capitol Projects in Jefferson City for 17 years, where he retired and went back to work part time. 

Herbie loved to spend time and meeting new friends at Camp Guardian. He was known for making keychains and selling them with the money being donated to Camp. Herbie was a master tinker.  He enjoyed singing karaoke, hunting, fishing, along with shopping for bargains at Good Will, Bin Stores and resale shops.   

Herbie considered himself an honorary big brother to the other residents at the Stratman Apartments.  He was very patriotic to the men and women serving in the Armed Forces, he enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and listening to Johnny Cash. 

Herbie was preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Ophilia; and step-father, Cletus Byerley.

He is survived by sister, Debra Sercl of Herculaneum; family and staff of the Stratman Apartments; special friend, Lois Jaegers of Jefferson City and family; guardian of 13 years, Paul Stratman of Westphalia; and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 9 until 11 a.m., Saturday, March 25, at Morton Chapel in Linn followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m.
