Wrestling along Highway 63 over the weekend proved to be tough yet productive at the same time for Rod Barndollar’s Owensville Dutchmen grapplers.
Friday night and Saturday morning, OHS’ varsity wrestlers competed in the Missouri Duals Tournament hosted by Helias High School in Jefferson City.
Pacing the JV Dutchmen wrestlers Saturday in Rolla was Owen Holtzer with a pair of wins at 170 pounds followed by a win each from Brayden Edwards (170), Dane Allen (170) and Brent Helmig (182).
In Jefferson City at the Missouri Duals, Barndollar’s varsity Dutchmen competed in five tough duals against Father Tolton (42-27), Neosho (84-0), Grain Valley (72-12), Helias (72-9) and Waynesville (58-18).
Grapplers picking up wins against Father Tolton included Dezmyn Moore (113), Boston Belk (138), Kolby Jahnsen (145) and Blaine Schoenfeld (170). Belk and Schoenfeld secured OHS’ lone victories against Grain Valley while Jahnsen, Moore and Schoenfeld posted wins Saturday morning against Waynesville.
Preventing a shutout against the host Crusaders, Schoenfeld was open at 170 pounds while Joe Bauer won a 7-2 decision in his match at 220 pounds.
Opening Four Rivers Conference (FRC) wrestling in a tri-meet at Union last night against the host Wildcats and St. Clair, OHS wrapped up the 2018 portion of their season on the road in Franklin County.
