Howard Eugen Davis, “Iron Man,” 75, Cuba, passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born Aug. 1, 1946, to Raymond E. and Ruth E. (McCune) Davis in Sullivan.
He was united in marriage to Mary E. Blankenship Sept. 2, 1967, at Holy Martyrs of Japan Church.
Howard began working at a young age. He worked hard to build a life for him and his family. He believed in a hard day’s work and helping others no matter who it may have been. He enjoyed farming, mowing grass, and teaching his grandkids. Howard Davis may have had a stern exterior, but he had a huge heart that was seen by many through his countless acts of kindness and generosity. He was loved by many and will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by parents Raymond and Ruth Davis; in-laws Vernon and Bertha Blankenship and Eva Blankenship; brothers Lawrence, Donald and Bill Davis; sister Carol Davis; brothers-in-law Sonny, Johnny and Ervin Blankenship, Gene Carey and Butch Hongisto; and nephews Danny Davis and Scott Carey.
Howard is survived by wife Mary Davis of Cuba; children John Davis and wife Trice, Brian Davis and wife Deana, and Sara Loeb and husband Jesse; brother Bob Davis and wife Peg; sister Marilyn Hongisto; in-laws Teddy Blankenship and wife Darlene, Margie Carey, Therese Wehmeyer and husband Ron, Linda Blankenship, Brenda Stoddard, Laverna Davis and Sharon Fann; and eight grandchildren Nick Shea, Brendan Shea, Tabitha Davis, Shayla Dicus and husband Brandon, Tristan Davis, Hayden Loeb, Jansen Loeb and Hudsen Loeb.
Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Holy Martyrs of Japan Church, with Father Tim Henderson officiating. Interment was at Holy Martyrs cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Howard’s memory may be made to Holy Martyrs Cemetery.
