Franklin County Sheriff Steve Pelton announced that human remains found near St. Clair Sunday, March 22, have been identified as Margaret A. Unger.
Unger was reported missing from her home in the 600 block of Turkey Road in St. Clair in April 2010. An extensive search for Unger was conducted when she went missing. The remains were found about a quarter of a mile from her home, according to Pelton.
Investigators conducted another search of the area after the remains were discovered.
The discovered remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation. DNA results confirmed the remains were those of Unger who was 64 years of age at the time of her disappearance.
