Intersection at Cedar and Sixth streets closed

A new concrete swale was installed Monday on Cedar Street where it intersects with Sixth Street. Pine Street will remain closed at that point until Friday, allowing the concrete time to cure. Sixth Street remains open for traffic. The swale was part of the prep work being done in anticipation of street resurfacing which should begin in a few weeks. The south portion of Cedar Street will be chip and sealed, not Pine Street as previously reported. Public Works Director Nick Grube said the swale is slightly larger than previous one, to better control storm water. Grube says his department also recently installed two water taps at a duplex on Flottmann Road and for a shouse (a combination of a shed and house) on Angell Road. Grube noted that each water tap indicates additional revenue for the city in terms of water and sewer charges.
