James Earl Bailey, 73, Owensville, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at his residence after a long battle with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy), a rare degenerative brain disease.
He was born Oct. 3, 1945, to William Earl and Florence Evelyn Bailey, in St. Louis County.
He was united in marriage to Charlotte Richards, Dec. 29, 1968, in Westboro.
James served with the U.S. Army in Korea. He was a member of Woollam United Methodist Church. James enjoyed sports, stamp collecting, reading and was a Mizzou football and St. Louis Cardinal fan.
He was preceded in death by parents, William and Evelyn; daughter, Jana Bailey-Pietrzak; and brother, Daryl Bailey.
He is survived by wife, Charlotte, of the home; daughter, Christyn Grant and husband Tony of Boone, N.C.; son-in-law, Rafał Pietrzak of Poland; sister-in-law, Sherrye Bailey of Westland, Mich.; brother-in-law, Craig Richards of Owensville; niece, Sarah; nephew, James; and granddaughter, Katrina Grant.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 4,, at Woollam Methodist Church with Pastor Amy Turner and Rev. Jackie Asher officiating. Burial will be (today) Wednesday, Sept. 4,, at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis with full military honors.
Memorials are requested to Woollam United Methodist Church.
