James William Nichols, 72, Bland, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 27, 1946, to William Audra and Luna Mae (Baty) Nichols, in Jefferson Country, Ala.
He was united in marriage to Norma Recker, June 27, 1969, in St. Louis.
James served in the U.S. Army, receiving a purple heart. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Owensville and a member of Teamsters Local #688. He enjoyed hunting, spending time outdoors, working on his property and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents William and Luna.
He is survived by wife, Norma, of the home; children, Kimberly Bettis and husband Scott and James Nichols, all of Wentzville; sister, Kathy Humphres of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Josh Bettis and wife Chelsea of St. Charles, Andrew Bettis of St. Louis, Samantha Bettis, Jacob Bettis and Wyatt Nichols, all of Wentzville; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, Aug. 12, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Owensville with Fr. Wayne Boyer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions suggested to Siteman Cancer Center.
